The Eighth International Symposium on Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE 2023) is organized on behalf of the International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE) under the auspices of Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy. Professors Fabio Biondini and Dan Frangopol will serve as Symposium Chairs for IALCCE 2023. The Symposium will be held at Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy, July 2-6, 2023 (https://ialcce2023.org).

The Association covers all aspects of life-cycle assessment, design, maintenance, rehabilitation and monitoring of civil engineering systems. The objective of the Association is to promote international cooperation in the field of life-cycle civil engineering for the purpose of enhancing the welfare of society. Currently, IALCCE includes over 800 individual members from 66 countries and about 30 collective members (http://www.ialcce.org).

Aim of the Symposium

The aim of IALCCE 2023 is to bring together all cutting edge research in the field of Life-Cycle Civil Engineering and related topics, to advance both the state-of-the-art and the state-of-practice in the field, and to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Target Audience

Everybody interested in any aspect of Life-Cycle Civil Engineering is invited to participate. Participation will be profitable to university researchers, representatives from all sections of civil engineering, engineers working with companies, consultants, contractors, and representatives from local authorities. Besides promoting their own research and professional work, participants will learn about and discuss the latest accomplishments, innovations and potential future directions in Life-Cycle Civil Engineering and connect with each other in order to build innovative and lasting networks and collaborations.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at IALCCE 2023 in Milan.

IALCCE Symposia

Seven International Symposia have been organized since the foundation of IALCCE. The inaugural IALCCE Symposium was held in Varenna, Lake Como, Italy, in June 2008, under the auspices of Politecnico di Milano. Following IALCCE 2008, a series of Symposia have been organized in Taipei (IALCCE 2010), Vienna (IALCCE 2012), Tokyo (IALCCE 2014), Delft (IALCCE 2016), Ghent (IALCCE 2018), and Shanghai (IALCCE 2020). These events have been very successful, both technically and academically, and IALCCE Symposia have become established events in the field of Life-Cycle Civil Engineering and related topics. For IALCCE 2023 we are back to Italy to continue the series of very successful events and celebrate the 15th Anniversary of IALCCE Symposia where they were initiated.

Papers, Mini-Symposia & Special Sessions

The response to the IALCCE 2023 Call for Papers has been extremely successful. The contributions received cover a wide spectrum of advanced research topics and applications in the field of life-cycle of civil structures and infrastructure systems ad include overall 50+ Mini-Symposia & Special Sessions organized as part of the IALCCE 2023 Technical Program, 750+ Abstracts submitted from 50+ countries, and 500+ Full Papers accepted for presentation at the Symposium and publication in the Proceedings.

The Symposium Proceedings have been published Open Access by Taylor & Francis and submitted for inclusion in the major indexing services, including Scopus, Compendex, and Web of Science. Extended versions of selected papers presented at the Symposium will be considered for publication in Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, an international peer-reviewed journal endorsed by IALCCE and included in the ISI Science Citation Index (https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/nsie).

Vision Journal Article

An overview of IALCCE 2023 has been published in a Special Issue of Vision Journal (https://visionjournal.it).

A number of exhibition booths are made available at IALCCE 2023. The Exhibition area is located in the Symposium Venue to provide the Exhibitors with the best exposure to the Symposium Delegates. The list of Registered Exhibitors is provided in the dedicated section on this website.
